Small round box with domed lid, mangosteen fruit stalk handle with four sepals, rounded base, flat bottom.
Clay: coarse, buff to orange, with black specks.
Glaze: clear, brittle glaze on outside of body and lid; caramel glaze on handle; matte brown glaze inside body; inside of lid, lower body, and base unglazed. Decomposition on body only; lid and body may not match.
Decoration: in iron pigment, under glaze. Two lines circling handle of lid; lower lid and upper body decorated with undulating line and circles; two lines below design, coinciding with lower edge of glaze.

3. (Louise Cort, 20 May 2008) Based on her research on shipwrecks, Roxanna Brown dates iron-decorated boxes from the Si Satchanalai kilns to the sixteenth century (circa 1520–1570/84) and describes them as the most common shape of that period (Brown 2004).
