Curatorial Remarks

1. (L.A. Cort, 1 August 1995) "Sukhothai province, Si Satchanalai" added to attribution and date changed from 13th–15th century to 15th–16th century.

2. (Louise Cort, 10 August 2004) During a visit of Washington Oriental Ceramic Group members to Freer storage on 17 April 1998, Jack Lydman commented that votive images of this sort used to be recovered from the Macassar River in Ujung Pandang (Macassar). The river was dredged twice a year by the local merchants ("toucans") in search of goods to sell. The images had been thrown into the river as offerings.

3. (R. Andeson per J. Smith, Oct 12, 2010) Transfer of remark from Provenance Field: "Collected by the donor at the Sawankhalok kiln site, Thailand, in 1959."
