Description

Small figurine of pair of fighting elephants on rectangular base
Clay: buff with black speckles
Glaze: thin mottled iron glaze, olive-brown to dark brown, covering upper portion of figures; lower portion and base unglazed
Decoration: modeled details of eyes, ears, tails
Mark: none

Curatorial Remarks

1. (L.A. Cort, 1 August 1995) "Sukhothai province, Si Satchanalai" added to attribution and date changed from 13th–15th century to 15th–16th century.
