Curatorial Remarks

1. (Louise Cort, 24 August 2004) Victor Hauge, in a conversation at his home on 17 July 2001, said that this jar and lid were San Kamphaeng ware. Dean Frasché owned a related piece.

2. (Louise Cort, 20 January 2006) A similar lidded jar, identified as San Kamphaeng ware in the Kraisri Nimmanahaeminda collection, Chiang Mai, is published in Shaw 1989, 72, center right (h. 24 cm). Even more so than this jar, that vessel seems to have been thrown as a single form, then sliced to form the body and lid.
